Reflective Post on Shakespeare's Hamlet

After reading Hamlet I believe it is one of the saddest tragedy plays every written. If you were to read it and put yourself in Hamlets shoes I believe you would see yourself just as confused as he was because I certainly know I was understanding how he felt and it was sad. Hamlet was very upset at his mother Gertude's very quick marriage with Claudius but his fathers ghost had told him to let things go and be happy for his mothers sake. However, Claudius poisoned hamlets father and a son could never forget this. I know if my father was done like this I would be just as upset. Hamlet is torn between getting back revenge for his father or leaving things alone for his mothers fate. This is where the lines "To be or not to be" comes into play. Claudius scared for his life tries to send Hamlet away but he escapes death and comes to face the new king to make things rite. While ariving Hamlet was sent a poisoned cup but in turn his mother Queen Gertude drinks it and dies. Hamlet now gone mad he begins fighting but is cut by a poison tipped sword. After realizing what had happend he takes the sword and takes revenge for his father and mother killing Claudius. This play is extremly sad and Hamlet looses everything in a showrt amout of time. Shakespeare shows the concept of how life can turn upside down due to just one person and change either for the better or for the worst. In Hamlets case it was for the worst.

  1. His life was full of people deceiving and spying on him. Besides his new step-dad was also his uncle, who he learns killed his father with poison. Very tragic ending for all as well.
