Biograpphical Post on George Herbert and Reflection on Love bade me welcome

George Herbert was one of the most religous poets of all time. Herbert has many poems that concern god, love, sin, and heaven. Born in Wales in the 1500's he was one of five sons. He was very smart and written many of his poems in Latin and earned a Bachelors degree. Due to his popularity he had been known to the locals and friends as "Holy Mr. Herbert". However, he was ill fated due to one to many drinks one night and died of consumption. One of my favorite poems written by Herbert is Love bade me welcome. After, reading it I come to realize that it was about a person that love fell into his or her arms. Yet they found love so easily it was taken advantage of, "Love bade me welcome, yet my sould drew back, Guilty of dust and sin". The second stanza is where the person is questioning if love had found the right person. It is then that I realize the "love" that Herbert is writing about is god. God is the true love that will find anyone and everyone. He or she sits down in the end and takes the love of god in the end and ends the poem perfectly with the words,  "You must sit down , says love, and taste my meat. So I did sit and eat".

Reflective Film Review Post: Hamlett

In my literature class at Westside Highschool we were discussing William Shakespeare's "Hamlet". After reading the play and discussing it with our teacher she allowed us to watch the movie Hamlet with Mel Gibson. The movie took about three days for us to watch and after certain parts we stopped the movie to discuss certain things and events that took place in the movie as well in the real story. It was suprising to me that the movie stuck pretty close to the real play and didnt leave parts out like many movies would. After the movie ended the whole class was suprised at how good the movie really was. Honestly, we thought that reading the play and then watching the movie made us like the movie that much more. Also, the fact that Mel Gibson was in it made things much better due to his good acting. This is my favorite movie that was written by Shakespear. I believe that watching this movie was a good idea but reading the story before watching it made me and my class like the movie even more.

Reflective Post on Shakespeare's Hamlet

After reading Hamlet I believe it is one of the saddest tragedy plays every written. If you were to read it and put yourself in Hamlets shoes I believe you would see yourself just as confused as he was because I certainly know I was understanding how he felt and it was sad. Hamlet was very upset at his mother Gertude's very quick marriage with Claudius but his fathers ghost had told him to let things go and be happy for his mothers sake. However, Claudius poisoned hamlets father and a son could never forget this. I know if my father was done like this I would be just as upset. Hamlet is torn between getting back revenge for his father or leaving things alone for his mothers fate. This is where the lines "To be or not to be" comes into play. Claudius scared for his life tries to send Hamlet away but he escapes death and comes to face the new king to make things rite. While ariving Hamlet was sent a poisoned cup but in turn his mother Queen Gertude drinks it and dies. Hamlet now gone mad he begins fighting but is cut by a poison tipped sword. After realizing what had happend he takes the sword and takes revenge for his father and mother killing Claudius. This play is extremly sad and Hamlet looses everything in a showrt amout of time. Shakespeare shows the concept of how life can turn upside down due to just one person and change either for the better or for the worst. In Hamlets case it was for the worst.

Shakespeare Biographical Blog Post

One of the most famous Authors of all time was William Shakespeare. Shakespeare wrote many famous plays such as "A Midsummer Night's Dream", " All's Well that Ends Well", "Hamlet", "Macbeth", "Romeo and Juliet", and "The Winter's Tale". Eventhough, I have not stated all the plays he had written the plays that I have mentioned should be enough to show how important he is to the present literature world today. Growing up Shakespeare did not have things such as the internet or tv we have today. He was at a disadvantage on writing plays due to this and if the theature was not closed down due to illnesses he was only earning few shillings for his acts. Born in 1564, William Shakespeare had to compete with the plague and other illnesses while trying to write or perform in England. Known for writing more than thirty plays he was also credited for inventing thousands of words for these plays. Much of these words are still used in todays society and are still popular. Therefore, still having an affect on todays society from hundreds of years ago he must be one of the greatest of all time and a great man during his time. If not for William Shakespear or literature wouldnt be the same as it is today.
