In my literature class at Westside Highschool we were discussing William Shakespeare's "Hamlet". After reading the play and discussing it with our teacher she allowed us to watch the movie Hamlet with Mel Gibson. The movie took about three days for us to watch and after certain parts we stopped the movie to discuss certain things and events that took place in the movie as well in the real story. It was suprising to me that the movie stuck pretty close to the real play and didnt leave parts out like many movies would. After the movie ended the whole class was suprised at how good the movie really was. Honestly, we thought that reading the play and then watching the movie made us like the movie that much more. Also, the fact that Mel Gibson was in it made things much better due to his good acting. This is my favorite movie that was written by Shakespear. I believe that watching this movie was a good idea but reading the story before watching it made me and my class like the movie even more.

Well I believe my favorite play of Shakespeare is now Midsummer Night's Dream. There is a 1999 version of this movie that has several good actors that are now well known. Michelle Pfeiffer, Kevin Kline, Calista Flockhart, Stanley Tucci and so many more. It is more magical and romance than Hamlet.
ReplyDeleteI watched this in high school and I was super grossed out by Hamlet and Gertrude's relationship! Its a good movie overall, but I guess they took some "artistic liberties" with those scenes.
